My name is Matt Bradshaw and I’m a maker from Oxford, England. A “maker” is a broad term for people who design and/or build physical objects. In my case, I combine my skills in programming, electronics, and other fields to create musical instruments.
I quit full-time employment in 2018 with a vague aim of becoming a professional maker in some capacity. Since then, I have…
- exhibited my synth guitar at Maker Faire UK
- won the DesignSpark Summer of Sound competition
- published seven articles in Hackspace magazine
- reached the semi-final of the Hackaday Prize 2018
- reached the final of the Hackaday Prize 2019
- and designed my first commercial product, a drum machine called DrumKid which was launched in 2020
I aim to make all of my designs “open source”, meaning that the schematics and source code are available free for anyone to view, use, and adapt. I host a lot of my projects on my GitHub page, as well as publishing tutorials and other content in Hackspace magazine and on my Hackaday.io page.
